Wera's Kraftform Kompakt Turbo
If there’s one thing about working with screwdrivers that could be improved it’s reducing the amount of turns you need to drive something in. It can get repetitive which means strain on your hands and wrists and even in relatively low stress work, it can add up. Even jobs that are relatively low impact screwdriving like working on PC’s, electronics and drone repair, electrical and panel work, and more can wear on you if you’re doing it all day. You can, of course, use electric screwdrivers and those can work well at times, but these electric drivers can be unwieldy and worst of all, they require power in the form of fresh batteries or constant recharging. If you’re in a spot where you have no power, that can be a problem. You now have an alternative to these electric screwdrivers, Wera’s Kraftform Kompakt Turbo.
Wera’s Kraftform Turbo can be used in normal mode like a conventional screwdriver or with the press of a button you can go into turbo mode. The turbo mode doesn’t need a power source, instead giving you faster turning ability by mechanical means. Inside each Kraftform Turbo handle are a series of gears that increase the turning speed when turbo is engaged. In standard mode, all of the gears are locked and the entire driver moves like a normal screwdriver. Push the button to engage turbo mode and the top-most gear releases the rest of the gears to unleash four-times the turning speed with each turn. This obviously decreases the amount of turning you need to do and it goes without saying that the amount of time spent working is less as well.
It should be noted that this driver is meant to help you work four-times as quickly and not give you four-times as much power. The turbo action is meant to speed things up once you actually get the screw going with the first few turns tightening or loosening before you switch to turbo mode. Our resident Tool Junkie, Robert highlights this as well as the proper way to use this tool for best results. The key to using the turbo mode properly is getting the hard part of turning started, then once it’s going, switch to turbo and hold the middle “collar” so the proper part of the screwdriver moves, then turn it until it gets difficult. At that point, just switch back to normal and complete the job.
As long as you use it correctly, to quickly turn the screwdriver during the easy part of turning and hold it properly, this tool will work great and save you a ton of time.
